Justin’s Lab

We are a dynamic, diverse, and motivated group that uses innovative scholarly methods to understand social, cultural, and environmental systems. We are made up of ethnographers, data scientists, philosophers, public policy experts, and combinations thereof. I am always on the lookout for curious and self-motivated masters and doctoral students to join the lab.

If you are interested in applying to work with me, please familiarize yourself with my research areas (both policy and theoretical), methodological approaches, and scholarly publications. Unlike many labs, I do not provide specifics projects on which to work, but encourage students to develop their own, based on their particular interests. While I work very closely with my students, I expect them to be highly self-motivated independent thinkers.

If you determine that the lab is a good fit for your research goals, and are interested in applying (PhD or MESc), please contact me directly with the following information: (1) CV, (2) a brief description of your research interests and the social-scientific questions you’d like to pursue, (3) why our lab is a good fit.
